Keeping the Special in Special Management Zones

Special Management Zones (SMZs) are government designated land use planning areas where the conservation of natural attributes, such as wildlife habitat, recreation, or community watersheds, are emphasized in resource management decisions.
BC Spaces for Nature developed “Keeping the Special in Special Management Zones: A Citizens Guide” so that citizens could use its and resources to design appropriate Special Management Zones and to promote better planning and management of existing SMZs.
